Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

Hey! Its phoebs :)
Halloween is coming up this friday, and I know it can be very difficult to find something to wear. I have come up with 4 super easy costume ideas to inspire you for halloween.
(Only outfit image is my own)

1. Zombie/Vampire Princess. All you need for this is creepy makeup (check out my look here) , your best dress and a tiara, which you can find in loads of toy stores.
Dress: Primark
This is so easy and really effective too.
With this makeup too you will look posessed haha.

2. Cat
This is not that original but so easy to pull off for a last minute costume. I would wear this at a halloween party where you want to look like you tried, but also look quite cute too. All you need is all black clothes, red lip, winged liner and kohl eyeliner to draw whiskers. If you can find cat ears that would be extra effective.
Top: Topshop . My leggings are very creased, they are not actually baggy haha.

3. Cow Girl
This isnt very scary but a great costume idea! Just wear your jeans and a checked shirt. If you have a cowboy hat great, but if not just plait your hair on both sides and tie them with ribbons. If your hair is too short, low bunches would work too.
Shirt: H&M.

Finally, if all else fails, grab your most preppy, upper east side clothes, top it off with an alice band and you are Blair Waldorf. Fab. You could even go with your friends and have them dress up as Serena, Dorota and Little J.

That is all my halloween costume ideas, hope you enjoyed. If you take inspiration from these ideas, please tweet/instagram me pics of your costumes! What are you going as for halloween?

Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Vampire

Hey! Its phoebs :)
This is actually my first halloween post this year, which is quite shocking coz I love doing them. As halloween is so close it might be my only makeup post, which sucks but I have a last minute costume post up next week.

I am actually really proud of this look, which makes me bummed at the fact I am not doing anything for halloween! Sad I know. But if you take inspiration from this for your halloween look, please tweet (@ThisChicGeek) or instagram (@geekchicnotes) me pictures because I would love to see! So lets get started.

First up, I used the Benefit High Beam at random points on my face to give a shiny, warped look. Then I took the shimmer pink eyeshadow from the Benefit Smokin Eyes kit all over my face. If you had white facepaint or a white powder that would work, but I quite liked the look of this.
Next, using the black eyeshadow, I messily did my brows to contrast my face.
I am basically Cara Delevinge. Haha.
On a fluffy brush I took the grey shade all around my eyes, so I looked like a racoon.
This is optional, but if you have a white eyeliner, line your waterline and tightline to add to the dead look.
Apologies for the lighting.
Next I took a mix of the black and grey eyeshadow and swiped this to chizzle my cheekbones and create a contrast with the pale face. I also added more highlight to the apples of my cheeks, draining all colour from my face.
Now for lips! I got this idea from Sprinkle of Glitter, but it is slightly different. Using a black eyeliner, I lined my lips with this. And I filled in the main part of my lips with white eyeliner.
With some slight adjustments, I think this look is suitable for a doll or zombie.
Anyways, I am now applying a red lipstick to merge the colours together.
This is the fun part! I used a lip brush, but a lipliner would work too. I created 2 squiggly lines from the outer corners of my lips to look like blood. On one side, I lightly continued the line down to the jaw and drew across.
with the excess product on the lip brush, I dabbed this below my bottom lip for blood.
This is optional, but if you want to create a vampire bite, keep reading. I used eyeliner and red lipstick and a brush.
I first drew a dotted backward C on my neck in eyeliner.
I used the lip brush to merge the dots together with red lipstick and the area around it. I applied brown eyeshadow on top to blend it in further, and then used a kohl eyeliner on the dots and more red lipstick around.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it helpful. Comment what you are going as for halloween!

Bridal/ Wedding Makeup Ideas

Hey! Its phoebs :)
My lovely friend Helena requested me to do a bridesmaid makeup tutorial, as her sister is getting married!  I have never been to a wedding so I have looked at celebrities makeup on their wedding day and various bridal makeup tutorials on youtube and have come up with a look I think suitable for a wedding. I will be showing you the eye look more than anything else, because base makeup is very personal, but if you want to see my base makeup look click here. I have put together my tips for base makeup to correspond with this look.

Moisturise and prime your face for maximum staying power.
Make sure no products contain SPF! Wearing SPF gives you a white flush in pictures, and it is a wedding so pictures will be taken haha.
Don't wear too much makeup. Due to the fact you are reading this post you are probably doing your own makeup for the wedding, so be comfortable with your makeup. Makeup artists know how to make quite a bit of makeup look natural, and if you try it, it might not work.
To avoid looking cakey, use translucent powder. Your usual tinted powder won't look cakey in person, but for the pictures it could look bad.

Now that is out of the way, lets get started!   First off, Prime your eyes! I used an urban decay primer potion. This step is so vital for great eye makeup. I did my brows with the Benefit Browzings kit. Don't go for a too strong brow, use what products suit you best and will last all day. To spread product, I used an eyebrow comb.

Next, to really make the powder eyeshadow colours pop, I used a maybelline colour tatoo in pink gold. I usually use my fingers with this but I applied it with a brush for a subtle and even application. Maybelline colour tatoos are extremely pigmented and last for hours and hours, so if all your other eyemakeup comes off, this will stay on.
For the eyeshadow, I used the naked pallete. Sorry if you don't own this!
First up I applied Toasted all over my eyelid, and Side Car in the outer corner.
Next, in my crease I used Naked. To blend all of these colours together I used Sin. The Colour Tatoo really made Sin look beautiful, I will be trying that combination more haha. Anyways.
I also took Sin in the inner corners and Virgin on my browbone. To give the look more depth, I used Toasted over the eyelid again.
Finally, I blended Sin and Side Car together on a fluffy brush and used that to blend all the colours together.
My eye went a bit funny here, sorry!
I then curled my lashes and used a white eye pencil on the outer half of the waterline to brighten up my eyes. This really does work.
Finally, I used Benefit They're Real mascara on my upper and lower lashes. Again, mascara is quite a personal thing, just make sure you have no clumps! I used mascara on the upper and lower lashes, to give me a doll eyed look. Also, if you are someone who would cry at a wedding, wear waterproof mascara!
Finally, for lips, I used a rimmel Apocolips in the shade 102. You don't want a mega bright lip, but you want a lasting colour, which is why rimmel Apocolips are amazing. If you don't like the colour I am wearing, check out their whole range at boots and superdrug.

I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful. If you are going to a wedding, have fun and I hope this look helped. If you do recreate this look please send me a pic through twitter or instagram I would love to see!

P.s thanks so much for the crazy amount of likes on my instagram post! I realise most of the likers were hoodie allens fans but its still crazy. And hoodie liked my instagram post! I promise I am not a crazy fan girl... really haha. Also I am going through a I-cant-wait-til-christmas phase, so my mind is going crasy with post ideas! If you have any requests please let me know or I will forget by december ahah

Music Musings: Hoodie Allen

Hey! Its phoebs :)
A while back I did a post all about my love for the band Of Monsters and Men, which you can check out here.Right now I am going through an addiction to Hoodie Allens music, which is what I am going to talk to you about today.

Hoodie allen is an up and coming american rapper (he has a really good singing voice too) with various EP's and his new album, People Keep Talking came out just last week. It is not avaliable in the UK yet *sobs* but his new EP is, which is awesome. I first heard of Hoodie because youtubers such as alfie deyes used to use his older tracks in their videos as they had no copyright. If you watch youtubers like Pointless Blog and others, you will probably recognise Hoodies song, The Chase is On.

Personally rapping is not my favourite genre of music, I love alternative rock the most (Imagine Dragons, Arctic Monkeys) . However, Hoodies rapping is different from the rappers you see featured in pop songs. There seems something more genuine about him. His song All About It features Ed Sheeran and if Ed likes Hoodie, you should all like Hoodie haha.

Hoodies new EP features five songs, my favourite being Dumb for You. It is so catchy and shows off Hoodies singing style. My favourite lyrics are 'you're everything I want and you're not mine' I just think its very understandable. That was a bit of a boring adjective to describe my favourite bit of the song, but anyways.  The fact that Hoodie collabed with Ed Sheeran ( the song is awesome too) shows that Hoodie is going places. I would love in maybe a couple years time for Hoodie to be one of the top rappers out there, I think he could be.

Even if rap is not your thing, go give his new EP (All About It) a listen, it is very catchy on not like your typical rap music.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I would love to know if any of you guys love Hoodie! Also fan girl moment, Hoodie replied and favourited my tweet !

Amie Face Mask Review

Hey! Its phoebs :)
I am finally on half term, meaning more time for blogging. If you have any post requests please tell me! Also I want to do a q&a on wednesday so please comment below or tweet (@ThisChicGeek) or instagram (@geekchicnotes) me questions! I will give your blog a mention in the post :)

The majority of my review style posts are very popular, however personally they are not my favourite to write. This face mask is so amazing though I had to share it with you.

My mum got me this back in July after I had come back from a school trip, and my skin was not in great condition. The first time I used it I didn't see mega results because of the poor condition of my skin, however every time after that it has saved my skin.

It is a minty deep cleansing clay mask. It is not a daily mask, I use it once a week, only on the areas that need it. If you suffer from redness this is the product for you. For at least five days after using this, my redness is dramatically reduced. It also cleans the pores, reducing them and cleaning your skin preventing more blackheads. This I think will vary on different people, as I did notice clearer pores but nothing miraculous. As for blemishes, it will not help you current spots but it does prevent future breakouts pretty well.

To achieve the maxium effect you need quite a bit of product, but I have got 6 uses out of mine so far and there is still some left. As any hardening mask will do you cannot move your face all that much, but it is not unbearable. The only problem is the mint. If you put this too close to your eyes, the mint is too overpowering. Even putting the product around your nose area is a pain. However considering the result this mask achieves I would not be put off by this.

I am not sure of the price but it is not a luxury skin care brand so the price should be reasonable. If you happen to be in waitrose or john lewis, definately check this brand out as it has really helped my skin.

There you are, I hope you enjoyed the post. Whats your favourite face mask? Also, I was thinking of doing a mini uk giveaway to celebrate christmas and me reaching 100 bloglovin followers- would you guys want that?
